Evelyne S. Steward

Evelyne Steward is the Founder and President of Stewardship Consulting, LLC.  She recently retired from Discovery Communications, the world’s number one non-fiction media and entertainment company, after serving 19 years as Vice President of Global Human Resources Work/Life and Diversity.  

 

Ms. Steward’s has strong expertise in strategic design and implementation of programs focused on wellness, work and family, agile working, community outreach and diversity.   Her accomplishments include the implementation of Discovery’s five on-site Medical and Wellness Clinics providing full primary medical care services as well as a state of the art on-site childcare center.

 

She spearheaded a task force responsible for the design and implementation of a new paid family leave policy (Discovery ‘Cares’ Program) which allows employees to take 12 weeks of paid leave to care for family members.

 

As a result of her accomplishments, over the years, Discovery Communications has been recognized as a national Top 100 best place to work for Working Mothers, Fortune Magazine Great Places to work and the #1 Best Company for Women in Cable and Telecommunications, to name a few.

 

Her work in the community includes managing the launch of the TLC Say Yes to the Prom nationwide initiative with an impactful and unique mission – deserving high school girls are offered the opportunity to select their prom attire.  The initiative goes beyond prom by empowering and motivating this generation of future leaders with professional mentors and educational tools and resources to help them succeed as they look towards college and careers.

 

Ms. Steward brings over 30 years of leadership experience in the banking, investments and entertainment industries with particular expertise in strategy development, customer service, community outreach and key aspects of human resources.  Prior to joining Discovery, she was Senior Vice President of Human Resources for the Calvert Group.

 

Over the course of her career, Ms. Steward has served on numerous boards including the National Business and Professional Women’s Association, Suited for Change, American Capital Investments, Bright Horizons Advisory Council and Women in Cable and Telecommunications HR Advisory Council. She has been recognized for her strong leadership and work in support of women and women’s advancement in the workplace. Awards include: Woman of the Year by Business and Professional Women’s Association, the Ted Childs Work/Life Excellence Award from Working Mother Media and the Chris Kjeldsen Work/Life Legacy Award.   She was the recipient of the Athena Award, recognizing her professional excellence and community service, as well as her passion and dedication to assisting women achieve professional excellence.  In 2016, she received the Women in Cable and Telecommunications Leadership Award.

 

Ms. Steward holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Housing and Applied Design from the University of Maryland.  She is the proud mother of two millennial children.
